Hi, I’m Suzanne.

A self-confessed word nerd.

I’m on a mission to help hardworking people doing good in the world have an even greater impact.

Being born and raised in England, travelling the world, and living in Cambodia and Melbourne have shaped a few rules I live by:

🙌 Trust your gut. It takes you places.

🙌 Be brave. It’ll be okay.

🙌 Don’t settle for less than ‘HELL, YES’.

🙌 Lean in. There’s magic on the other side.

🙌 It’s never too late to start.

🙌 Use your words. People need them.

I come from the school of hard knocks.

And I’ve spent a lifetime healing and working to help others.

First, I found my light in the classroom, teaching teens.

I wanted to be the kind of role model that saved my ass during the hardest times—definitely a calling.

And there's nothing like 17 years of teaching English to teens to keep you on your creative toes. They're a tough crowd.

Then, it manifested in Cambodia. I lived there for 2 years, and even though it was a time of bar-owning (a whole other story), startling self-discovery and silliness…I couldn’t sit back and watch the children in the village suffer with little education.

So I volunteered for and ran an English school project.

And, when I moved to Melbourne, I founded a new charity called Shine Cambodia. This is when I learnt to juggle.

Full-time teacher and jack-of-all-trades for the charity. I wrote the fundraising copy, annual reports and policy documents. You name it, I wrote it.

Founder Suzanne Wright at Shine Cambodia

Zip forward 7 years, a few burn-outs later, and it was time to take a step back and look at my life.

I’d hit 44. Single for a decade. Financially okay but not set up for the future.

My financial planner, Scott (hands up for the Scotts of the world), helped me sort the plan.

It’d do me well in retirement, but it would be tight until then.

And ‘tight’ doesn’t fit into my vocab unless it’s about my glutes!

Suzanne Wright Copywriter

So, I racked my brains for what I was good at.

Realised I’d been writing copy for years.

Realised I could charge for my time.

Drum roll…

I launched 'Just Wright’.

To help people and fund my travel and retirement.

So now I’m a St Kilda, Melbourne-based freelance copywriter in arguably the most creative, crazy, cool suburb in the city. You’ll find me at home next to the beach, in local art cafes soaking up the kookie vibes, or in my classroom in the city with a bunch of amazing teens who are gonna rule the world.

These days, I’m at my happiest geeking out fixing people's prose problems, particularly those of business owners, who, if their venture is successful, get to help more people (including animals who are furry people) and the planet (coz we need a home).

I do exactly what it says in my tagline:

[I'm] Using words to help you do good in the world.

And, when the work cup fills up, I share the love.

I’m proud to work alongside Viewpoint Digital Media for all things digital marketing and design. This means Just Wright can offer a full suite of services backed by a team with decades of combined experience.
